Draught at EBF. Almost black, small disappearing brown head. Salty, sourish aroma, little ammonium and liquorice. Flavor is salty liquorice, wood, burned malts and little alcohol. Mildly vinous. Medium bodied, average palate. Good salty porter.

[on tap at EBF 2008] Roasty dark chocolate aroma that is sweet and fruity. Opaque black-brown with an off-white ring. Plenty of chocolate malt in the flavour that is nutty, creamy, and velvety. A nice helping of floral hops in the background. Sweet, but ending with a pleasant dark malt bitterness. Warming, slightly bitter finish, moderate carbonation.

Draught (EBF2008) - thanks someone! (thewolf?)
Not much aroma. Soft malty burnt body. Doesn’t seem like 7.2%. Certainly quite drinkable, but I don’t know quite why this one didn’t quite do it for me. I normally like this style a lot, should rerate.

Tap @ EBF, 2008, Carlsberg.
Pours a great, translucent, red-black with a small ring of foam. Aroma is sweet, roasted, chocolate and a light hops note - flowery. High carbonation, lively, but not even remotely too much. Flavour is immensely drinkable, warming, chocolate, soft roastiness and a pleasant hoppy finish. Just warming, but I never feel the alcochol. Stunningly balanced - probably the beer from the entire festival that I could keep drinking as a session beer.
