Had this at the Borefts Beer Festival, De Molen Brewery, Bodegraven, Netherlands 30-10-09 Pours black with a tan head. Not as smokey as I expected, but this is pure bliss, smooth chocolatey, quite wonderful beer. Can’t be bothered to put any more notes down suffice to say this is absolutely glorious stuff. Tasted at the first, great, Borefts Beer Festival 2009 @ De Molen. Black colored brew. Aroma is oak, smoke. Flavor is great, just as the Kaggen Stormaktsporter, but with more smoke and peat, oak. Just a great brew. But I like the normal version a bit better.

A Mes rate. Draught at 1st Borefts Beer Festival.
Kaggen with some extra smoky notes. What is there not to like? Ok, maybe I do still prefer the original Kaggen but hell this is still a world class beer. Slightly more barrel and slightly more boozy feel than the regular, which is already a fairly fierce beast. Something very earthy about it too. Must be the peaty notes. Still has that utterly unbeatable velvet palate. Spectacular.

Tap @ 1ste Borefts. A brown/black colored beer, with beige head. The aroma of dark roasted malts wood and some smoke. There is chocolate with some sweets. The taste is a little bitter of hops with touches of wood and some smoke. Touches of sweet. The aftertaste of dark chocolate. A great beer.

Tap @ 1st BBF De Molen.
Pours a lightly muddy black with practically no head. Aroma is light peity, some oak, liqourice, softly roasted and dark chocolate. Low carbonation, fine oily mouthfeel. Flavour is soft, very light peity, roasted, oak. Very soft, but still a bit weird.

On tap @ 1st BBF, de Molen. The aroma has chocolate, some coffee and peaty whisky. Black coloured beer with no head and an oily texture. The taste is sweet, smokey and has whisky, coffee. Nice beer but not as complex, balanced and smooth as the other special brew at the festival, riped in fresh Swedish oak.
