Bottle, courtesy of unknown Swedes at ZBF 2006, shared with John White on Eurostar back to London, March 2006. Jet black, moderate deep beige head and gentle condition. Intense roasted barley, gentle chocolate powder bitterness in the nose, soft and sweet in the mouth with a slight fruitiness balanced by a chocolate powder and roasted barley bitterness, lingering finish with sweet fruity notes balanced by bitter chocolate and coffee and lurking behind it all spirity alcohol.

0.2 l bottle at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007, vintage 2006. Pitch black color with creamy head. Rich thick aroma with coffee, chocolate and leather. Sweet flavor with chocolate, coffee and very complex warming alcohol character. Very rich and satisfying!

275ml bottle at The Bishop’s Arms, Malmo, 8th Oct 2007. Having tried the Kaggen at GBBF 07 and then lost my notebook, it was a great pleasure to be able to have this while in Sweden. It’s an exceptional porter. Pours a pure black with little head. Aroma of chocolate and red wine with many other notes. Flavour of raisins and rich fruit cake. Palate is like liquid silk. Absolutely cracking stuff.

250 ml bottle at Bishops Arms, Avenyn, Gothenburg, Sweden. Årgång 2006. Deep dark brown with a small, rapidly diminishing, light brown head. Roasted and oily aroma of tar, liquorice, salmiak, whiskey, tequila, and milk chocolate. Sweet, round taste, slowly replaced by a balanced bitterness. Somewhat dry on the palate.

Fantastic beer, fullflavoured and long aftertaste. The only thing that makes it to not get 100% is the aroma, it has a slight hint of catfood?

A great beer from Närkes kultur bryggeri, one of my favorite brewerys, nice colour, woderful flavour and loved the balance of the beer.
