Same bottle as jbrus. (Vintage 2005) Aroma of chocolate/mocha malts, honey and blackcurrant. Black coloured with a thin, fluorescent brown head. Very machine oily looks.Taste is sweet, chocolatebitter, coffee, some rye, blackcurrant and prunes. Very nice brew. Much thanks to Savad for sharing.

Bottled, vintage 2005. Nice aroma, mocha, blackcurrant and hints of varnish. Pours very thick, black colored, small light brown head, few lace. Sweet, loads of chocolate, coffee, blackcurrant and a bitter finish. Full, viscous and soft. Compared to other heavy imperial stouts it’s still very easy to drink. Thank you Savad for sharing this with us.

2005 vintage shared by goldtwins: Pours is identical to the ’04 vintage. Aroma seems to be slightly less intense and complex with some drier tobacco and earthy notes with some grainy crystal malt. Flavor is sweet and caramely with a touch of floral honey flavor and some earthy tobacco and a touch of plum complexity toward a drier finish. I think I prefer the ’04 vintage, but both are very good.

2004 vintage generously shared by cquiroga on 2/8/07: Pours a mostly opaque with dark brown edges and a nice wispy-lacing light brown head. Big, complex floral honey and caramel malty aroma is reminiscent of some meads with a good amount of plum and rum raisin complexity. Body starts fairly full and sticky with good sweet toasty dark caramel and chocolate malts with a touch of roasty ash. Has a touch of honey sweetness and bitter dark chocolate toward a complex, slightly warming finish. A very nice brew, thanks Chris!

Bottle thanks to puddintane. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, sweetness, maltiness. Flavor was pretty smooth> maybe a little smoke coming through in this along with a little oak or whiskey that was a little unexpected. Pretty good.

Black beer with a fast disappearing head. Sweet and roasted with lots of chocolate, coffee and fruit. Very rich and with a long dry finish

Thanks to Puddintane for sharing this one at the Columbus tasting #6.Got some slight chocolate with some hints of bourbon in the aroma.Pours black with a medium tan head. The flavors are pretty much the same as the aroma’s.Thin to medium mouthfeel with some noticable alcohol in the finish.

Shared at Columbus tasting 6 by Puddintane! Thanks! - Pours dark brown with a nice tan head that leaves a little lace. Aroma is mostly roasted malts, some bakers chocolate, and a good amount of coffee. Flavor is mostly dominated by roasted malts as well, some dark chocolate and an appearance of some coffee flavor. Finishes with slight bitterness. Smooth oily palate with low carbonation. Solid brew but I don’t think this is going to hang onto a top 50 spot as more people get to try it..

Huge thanks to puddintane for bringing this rare brew. Great aroma of bourbon, syrupy malt, and port wine. Deep brown body with a brown head. The palate is too thin for an imperial stout and really detracts from the enjoyability of the beer for me--this would be a weak palate for a porter. The carbonation is very low as well. Tangy malt flavor with some alcohol, a bit of bitterness in the back of your mouth. This beer to me is overrated. It’s enjoyable for sure--but not nearly as good as some the imperial stouts that are rated lower--all in my opinion of course...
