| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 8, 2007 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Pitch black ale with a mid-sized, creamy, light brown head. Rich, milk chocolate covered cherries and melted caramel with whispers of soy sauce and leather compose the aroma. Like the Kaggen, it’s a bit green with notes of acetaldehyde. Again, I’m supersensitive to the compound so most drinkers wouldn’t notice. A treat for the nose nonetheless. The flavor is robust with excellent balance. Hearty, roasted, sweet-malt backbone with moderate bitterness to match. Chocolaty and warming. Full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and subtle carbonation. Lengthy, chocolaty, lightly bitter finish with a pinch of salt. World class brew! I wish there were more! lagomswedish (213), Umeå, Sweden
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Bottle. There’s nothing that hasn’t already been said about this beer. It is truely impressive, from the thick, ink black pour and creamy chocolate brown head to the sweet aroma of chocolate powder and liquorice.
The palate, which caresses the tongue with an initial tickle of carbonation before a snap of dark chocolate and expresso, is the most memorable of any beer I’ve had to date.
The taste is so layered you’ll run out of superlatives long before you reach the end of the bottle. On my list were charchol, tar, tobacco, plums, expresso, and bitter chocolate.
The Kaggen betters this by a whisker - but it’s close, and with another year or so in my cellar I’m certain my remaining bottles will produce a perfect 5.

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2007 Bottle, 2005 vintage tasting @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. Amazingly cellared beer that only made this one even better!. Head was average creamy and light brown that mostly lasted. Color was tar black with a muddy looking body. Aroma was very malty with notes of rye bred, molasses, toasted, chocolate, coffee. With miscellaneous notes of plum, prune, toffee, licorice, port, wood, smoke, vanilla, coconut, soy sauce and rye bread. What an array of aromas. Full bodied with a creamy texture and a flat carbonation. Moderated sweet and light bitter flavor that makes this beer so well balanced. Short sweet finish. Extremely smooth Baltic Porter, defiantly the best so fare and the highlight of the evenings tasting. Once again Sk8viking, thanks for this incredible tasting! Theis (3792), Denmark
