Pours an absolutely crystal clear golden yellow color. The three pints I ordered last night had differing levels and characteristics of head:
1. fluffy,
2. thin and milky,
3. almost negligible.
Either way, a thin loose bunting of lace fought to cling to the glass but otherwise slid into the liquid leaving the glass relatively clean. Steady carbonation. Aromas are mild and quiet. Very deep inhalations are needed to discern a proper scent. Subtle grassiness and a touch of spent grain. I was hoping for more. Flavors offer up a bready base with a reserved element of crisp German hoppiness. Dry sharp German spice. Grassy and grainy and well received. Finish gives each side of my tongue a prickly tingle. Solid mouthfeel here; has more body than your run-of-the-mill pils. So very drinkable. Very refreshing and tasty. Maybe this should be a staple on tap to rid the brewpub of those damn Bud Light bottles people order!
GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jan 15, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Clear golden color with thin white head. Nice sprucy hop nose that comes out again in the flavor. Slightly sweet. Crisp, pleasantly grainy finish.
