biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Oct 9, 2009 Uh oh, a lost rating. Had this one a while back, forgot to rate it, although I swear I remember writing it. Must not have hit submit. Not a particularly great DIPA. Ah well. Boutip (2334), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Oct 3, 2009 Bottle: Poured a clear amber color ale with super large foamy head with great retention and super good lacing. Aroma of slightly bitter hops with a medium caramel malt backbone. Taste is also dominated by some caramel malt with notes of medium bitter hops. Body is a bit thin but carbonation is super great with no appearance of alcohol. I thought hops were a bit shy for the style and malt backbone could have more dominant. brentfeesh (1030), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Sep 30, 2009 Enjoyed with some afternoon football this past weekend thanks to Beerbill. Nice copper colored brew with a head so big I thought it was infected. Not so thankfully. Citrus hop aroma with a smidge of resinous presence and a lightly orange like sweet malt. Resinous hops are dominant in the flavor thought some lemon like presence sneaks up in the end. Touches of grain. A nicely bitter brew with enough body that it becomes quite drinkable. Medium body with a dry mouth feel. Enjoyed it. NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Sep 28, 2009 Bottle from the brewpub. Pours a dark copper with no real head. The aroma is grassy with lots of pine cones and melon with adequate sweetness for balance. This is full bodied and flavorful without being extreme. My palate detects clean pine bite, melon sweetness, caramel, and a dry grapefruit zing. This is very, very nice. Just needs more hops. beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA Sep 26, 2009 12 oz. bottle that I received as a gift. Pours a hazy gold with a large off-white head that lasted until mid-glass and left large patches of thick lace. Pleasant aroma of caramel and pine; somewhat sweet smelling. The flavor is similar with caramel and pine and is a bit sweet. Surprisingly lacking in hops bitterness at the finish. Mouthfeel is a bit slick. I wonder how long this bottle was sitting before it found its way to me? This beer seems a bit tired. Ok as it is, although I wouldn’t mind trying it again with a fresher example. pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 24, 2009 tap at brewgrass, north carolina....pours a hazy apple cider brown with a frothy off-white head.... sweet floral hop aroma with a light caramel malt backbone... flavors continued on much of the same. sweet citrus hop profile with a lot of lingering sweetness in the finish. i was looking for more of a bitter bite in the end. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jul 28, 2009 Courtesy of dkachur. Pours hazy deep gold with copper core and thin tan head. The aroma is mild musty sticky malts, pine hop bitterness and not much else. The taste is pine and floral hop flavors mixing with a nice malty sweetness before moving toward increasing hop bitterness and a touch of grain. Nice stuff. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Jul 14, 2009 12oz bottle via Secret Santa Summer 2009-Pours a hazy orange with a huge dense beige head. Nose is subdued but orange and sweet resiny hops. Starts sweet and ends bittersweet. In the middle are some fruity juicy hops..tangarine, pineapple, orange, a liitle grapefruit and a bit of pine. Also some crystal malts are evident. Anti dry finish....but not overly sweet...
Body is full and she is full of sticky resin. Carbonation is medium. A pretty tasty above average IIPA. Oh, and this reminds me a little of Pizza Port Wipeout...which is a good thing to be reminded of!
