Commercial Description:
Strong-style India Pale Ale, deep copper in color witha a big, malty, hoppy palate and dry hopped with Centennial & Antanum for a spicy, citrus aroma. What better name for a big, strong beer than one of the biggest, strongest weapons of the Revolutionary War - the cannonball.

From Immy’s Tasting, growler remaining from RBSG 06. Again, this held up fine with the travel. In fact, this beer was the highlight of the tasting for me. Medium orange copper colore, good head. Rich aroma of grapefruit and random citrus fruits. Flavor of grapefruit, more citrus, floral notes, and a fantastic balancing malt of caramel and biscuit. This hit all the things I look for in an IIPA. You could argue for perhaps more hop assault, but that’s just being picky. Great stuff.

Growler as noted below. Coppery pour with a white head. Big grapefruit nose, decent malt backbone. Flavor is really nice - pine, grapefruit, orange, even something like peach - all over a lightly sweet malt. Body is thick, but not overly so. Another winner from the tasting!

I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. Tremendous floral floral, piney aroma as soon as I popped the cap. When poured, light hazy, bronze color was also inviting, as was the solid fluffy head. A subtle palate hid the stiff resin-like, DIPA bitterness hopheads so crave. A solid DIPA that I would recommend and buy again.

From notes 10/9/05: Pours a cloudy bright copper color with a creamy off-white head. Hazy. Turbid. Thick lacing. Aromas are soft with juicy citrus and some pine. A bit of "zing" in the scent. Solid malty backbone begins the flavor, with a warm bready base. Citrus hoppiness follows giving a balance to the malts. Spiciness is tempered by the cask-conditioning; this one would be much harsher on the palate if only on-tap. Smooth full mouthfeel. Limited carbonation gives a fuller feel. Lingering bitterness. Citrus aftertaste. Dry-hopped with Centennial and Antanum hops. ABV seems absent. For a higher gravity brew, it seems rather easygoing. Very nice.

Pours a hazy golden orange with a smaller bubbly off white head. Aroma of citrus, pine and very floral hops along with some caramel sweet malts. Flavor of pink grapefruit, orange, pine and caramel and bready malt. Well done DIPA and not overly sweet.

Growler at Immy’s Tasting on 7-22-06. Unopened and leftover at RBSG so I took this home and into the fridge it went. I believe chris_o purchased this - thanks Chris! Copper bodied. Nose is hoppy, malty, and citrusy. Taste is malt with loads of hops, pine, and citrus fruits. Body is medium-full and chewy. Light oily feel as well. Finishes with more furits (melon, pear and tangerine), sweet amlts, caramel, hops and pine. Nice stuff!

12oz bottle via Secret Santa Summer 2009-Pours a hazy orange with a huge dense beige head. Nose is subdued but orange and sweet resiny hops. Starts sweet and ends bittersweet. In the middle are some fruity juicy hops..tangarine, pineapple, orange, a liitle grapefruit and a bit of pine. Also some crystal malts are evident. Anti dry finish....but not overly sweet... Body is full and she is full of sticky resin. Carbonation is medium. A pretty tasty above average IIPA. Oh, and this reminds me a little of Pizza Port Wipeout...which is a good thing to be reminded of!

Great beer. Extreme at both ends of malt and hops, but balanced beautifully.
