00cobraR (953), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Jan 3, 2007 Pours out a nice brown color with a nice tan head. Aroma is very nice. It is sweet and malty. Flavor is terrible. It was all i could do to drink this beer. I poured this one in the toilet. Sweet like candy. YUCK! 19641948 (492), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Sep 16, 2006 From notes 9/25/05:
My favorite seasonal beer flyer of the bunch so far: the historic revolutionary era rattlesnake coiled and ready to strike with the motto "Don’t tread on me" underneath it. The snake wraps around a pint glass and sits upon the state of NC. Pours an orangey-amber color, very cloudy. Vibrant colors. A fluffy yellow/orange head sits proudly. Reduces to mere nothingness after a short while, leaving a bubbly collar of foam around the edges. Sparse lacing. Aromas of bubblegum and cotton candy. Very succulent and inviting. My sweet tooth attention has piqued. Some banana/clove aspect shows through as well in the scent. Flavors give the palate a good coating of banana and clove. More sweet cotton candy character. The chalkboard states vanilla as well, but that particular flavor did not come across to me, even with two pints of study. Smoothness from the wheat. Bubblegum aftertaste. A touch of alcohol warmth in the finish; it isn’t quite harsh, but it can cut through the candy sweetness with ease. Modest body. Very drinkable, especially if you’re a cotton candy or bubblegum fan. Me? I drained the pints with ease and a smile. Their first post-cap popping brew at 6.5% A pleasant pint (or two). Suttree (2293), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 24, 2005 Cloudy light brown, dense foamy headVery enticing grapey, fruity aroma, My descritption of the flavor is "like a ’nanner sammich on rye bread" - this is a filling, dense beer. More like meal, really. Complex fruity flavors mix with spicy malts to a crisp finish. Sampled at Asheville Brewgrass 2005.
