But this new one is billed as a mild. A 6.4% mild. Pours a hazy, unfiltered golden brown with a fluffy and spacious head of almond. The airy head plopped away hastily and left a thin skim of milkiness. Aromas were clean with a fair balance of subtly sweet caramel maltiness and dry earthy hops. The flavor follows suit with more balance. Quite the session brew, but a mild? I guess I can see it, apart from the ABV that would limit drinking 6 pints in one sitting. Clean finish, quiet body. Will not brand its memory onto your brain, but a tasty beer nonetheless. Earlier Rating: 9/16/2006 Total Score: 3.2 From 11/26/04:
Pours a bright gold color with a meager white head of foam. Miniscule lacing. Fresh aromas of malt and grain. Husky, yet soft at the beginning. A biscuity malt profile with some herbal hop tones to it. Flavorful taste with an adequate malt backbone supported by some zaps of hop bitterness. Holy bitterness, Batman! A zing of finishing hops cleanses the palate of all things malty sweet and seals the deal. A lightly kilned malt character, immediately followed by a zesty herbal and almost minty hop flair. A nice ale, leaning towards a bitter or ESB in most respects, even if the servers box it in into a generic "English pale ale" nomenclature. Tasty
