on nitro-pours a retaining, creamy, very light tan head and black color with red tint. Aroma is dark malt-rich/roasty. Taste is dark malt-coffee, acidic.

Tap at the brewpub on 2/2/08: Pours a semi-transparent dark mahogany brown with a nicely-lacing froth of light tan head. Aroma of sweet dark malts and a touch of milk chocolate. Body starts with decent full;ness and some dark caramel sweetness and a roasty malty bitterness for balance before a thinner dark chocolate finish. An authentic dry stout.

This might be more flavorful if the nose and taste weren’t muted by the nitro delivery system. It looks good, naturally, with a body so dark brown it’s almost black and a creamy tan head that laces in sheets. What there is left of the aroma is a light roasted barley with freshly ground coffee. Too smooth for me. The muted flavor reflects the aroma, the coffee being a bit stronger now. It leaves a chalky coating on te tongue. Drinkable, but, Why?

tap @ Natty Greenes: Nitro pour and typical Guiness clone. Poured a very dark brown almost opaque with a creamy tan head. Roasty and dry with a mild but long bitter finish. Nitro mouthfeel and light to medium body. Bland.

Draught at the brewpub. Opaque, black with thin brown head. Nice nose; full of vanilla, anise, chocolate, and coffee. The flavor is watered down version of the aroma. Mouth-feel is very thin and disappointing for a stout.

On tap at the brewpub. Black as coal in color with a thin off white head. Lots of coffee in the flavor and accountable roastedness to the aroma. Good, but not outstanding.

Almost black pour with foamy tight head and lace. Roasted malt and light coffee on the nose. A light burnt coffee flavor and a pretty nice bitter. A tad thin but with good carbonation. A bit above average BP stout a slight twang takes a bit away from it.
