| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 4, 2008 Appearance: Hazy copper-colored body capped by a small white head.
Smell: Dry pale maltiness with a meager measure of spice-minded rye.
Taste: Pale malt taste that offers little sweetness, though a bit of caramel perks up if allowed to warm a bit. Touch of spicy rye throughout. Medium bitterness. Pretty much the same till the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: I’m sorry, Natty G, but this is not your finest work. alexanderj (2286), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 19, 2008 On tap at the brewpub; color was amber/copper with a smallish white head. Aroma of caramel, rye and maybe some citrus. Flavor was similar. Pronounced rye presence; some hints of caramel with a decent bitter finish. Enjoyable example of the style. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 13, 2009 Slightly hazed orange/brown pour. Light malt with a hint of citrus on the nose. Caramel malt followed by a very nice bitter. Just a tad aggressive carbonation kept me from rating this very good drinker alot higher. I liked this beer. tronraner (1939), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 24, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. Pours copper gold with ivory head. The aroma is pine and grapefruit with a noticeable spicy rye character. The flavor is pine and grapefruit hops with a reasonable amount of bitterness. Rybe bread comes out in the finish, and hop bitterness lingers in the aftertaste. I enjoyed this one very much. TURDFERGUSON (1609), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 28, 2007 on draught at Natty Greene’s. pour is reddish orange with a small creamy head. Aroma is dry hops and a little bit of spicey rye. Flavor is mildly hoppy, but kind of watery and one-demensional. Probably the best beer they had there, but I didnt get to try their double ipa which is supposed to be nice. OldGrowth (1434), North Carolina, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 26, 2007 Pint @ brewpub. Ok aroma, Rye, peat, caramel. Tad hazed brownish orange color, good head that faded quickly, minor lacing. Bitter flavor, like aroma. Rye kicks up a notch, has a real bitter streak. a smoke quality. Little caramel. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Good though I don’t think I’d go back for another. The flavor just didn’t come together for me. A sweet smoke mix I wasn’t enjoying.
