Brewed with floor-malted Maris Otter and "Distiller’s" malt from Glen Eagle, Scotland. Pours a pretty ruby/chestnut with a fluffy light beige head. Striking beauty when held to the light. Glowing. Brilliant. Little lacing; just a smidge of loose thin wet foam. Aromas are mild to say the least. A hint of smoky malts, but the drinker has to really concentrate and discern the scents. Subtle peat earthiness. Mild. Flavors bounce back with a pleasant smokiness rounding out the soft peat characteristics. Some hard water mineral notes detected. Little hop character felt, in both aroma and flavor. Thinner mouthfeel than I would prefer for the style. Would be killer if it’s brewed again with the newly lifted 6% cap. Could stand to be much chewier to me. Drinkable and clean. Very easy to down. Multiple pints easily.
