CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 14, 2009 Tap at the brewpub on 2/2/08: Pours a hazy dark copper with a well-lacing frothy off-white head. Aroma of lightly sweet doughy dark caramel malts and a touch of lemon citrus. Starts semi-sweet and toasted wheaty with some bready yeasty balance before a slightly more bitter finish. A pretty decent dunkelweizen. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Feb 15, 2009 Copper pour with creamy off white head and lace. Caramel malt aroma. Semi sweet caramel with a nice light fresh finishing bitter. Just a bit thin and a tad foamy. Very solid medium bodied beer. A bit of tartness as well. dkachur (2317), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Apr 27, 2008 Draft at brewpub. Bronze color with a small head and good lacing. Caramel, grain, banana aroma. Same taste with a bitter finish. Light smokiness. Low carbonation and maybe a tad bit thin. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Apr 19, 2008 On tap the brewpub; color was an orange tinted amber with an off white head. Didn’t pick up too much aroma, but there was some wheat, caramel and roasted malt; maybe some spice. Flavor was much of the same, but found it pretty meek. Some chocolate and banana too, with a little more pronounced spice presence. Good, but could have been better. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Feb 8, 2008 A soild dunkelweizen. OldGrowth (1407), North Carolina, USA Nov 5, 2007 Growler from brewpub. Ok aroma, sweet. caramel, clove, wheat bread, clove, pinneapple, banana. 1st pours were clean brownish orange, last pour got cloudy. Small head, Ok lacing. Sweet & spiced flavors, like aroma with fruit aspects a little more pronounced. Lite body, creamy smooth mouthfeel, sweet spiced finish that faded away. Little on the dry side. Tasty enough. Flavor was better cold, seemed to lose a little as it warmed. goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA Nov 2, 2007 tap @ Natty Greenes: Poured a cloudy almost dark amber color with a creamy beige head.
