opaque burnt orange, fine beige head, streaks of lace,
rich sweet chocolate and banana aroma,
still the rich chocolate and banana flavor but the sweetness is tuned down a notch as would happen with a successive generation yeast,

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 24, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. Pours copper-orange-brown with well-formed beige head. The aroma is very clovey with hints of caramel and citrus. The flavor is caramel and clove at first, then some mild fruity esters, especially banana and pineapple. Dark wheat flavors hit in the finish and leave an earthy and spicy aftertaste. Mild acidic tartness in the finish. Respectable dunkel. jcwattsrugger (5528), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 4, 2007 Cloudy amber-walnut pour with a good frothy head and sticky lacing. Sweet, doughy nose with some clove. I detect malts, dark fruit, clove, banana, yeast and wheat. Unfortunately, the finish is a bit muddy and unremarkable. The mouthfeel is a bit thin and slick... Overall, it’s ok, but nothing to write home about. 19641948 (491), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2006 Pours a clouded deep mahogany orange with a pock-marked light tan head. Laces after 1/3 of the glass is consumed in a thin droopy curtain. Fruity aromatics of banana, yeast, and some spice. Has a dry powdery air to it as I inhale. Pleasing. Ripe banana overtones in the flavor with a fair amount of yeastiness. Light brown sugar sweetnesss. That nondescript spice flair shows here also, giving my mind a workout to discern it. More pints needed to be ordered to pinpoint it, and yet I was still at a loss. Solid dunkel mouthfeel. Just enough effervescence. So very drinkable. The first pint was drained easily and from there on out I had to remind myself to slow down.
