On draft at the Piedmont Ale House in Burlington. Clear deep gold under a medium white head with very good staying power. Pine and citrus on the nose, just like the description promises. Medium body and carbonation, mildly resinous palate, but pretty clean. Honey like sweetness countered by a grapefruit bitterness that leads to a long dry finish. Not bad at all.

Cask at the Durham World Beer Festival. Murky gold with a small off white head. Mild grapefruit and light pine nose. Fruity, light flavors, more grapefruit and pine. Not bad.

This is a well balanced, quaffable American pale ale. Golden bodied with a creamy, good lacing head, the aroma of this ale is sweet malt with sturdy grapefruit and pine hop scents. The malts are somewhat toasty in the flavor, still quite sweet, with the hop bitterness remaining strong and lasting long into the finish. Good stuff.

From notes 8/7/04: Pours a rich light amber-orange color with a worthy sticky cap of foam. Lace sticks with so much determination, it seems you’d need an ice scraper to remove it. Aromas have a firm malty background, with a sweet citrusy and piney hop scent. Scrumptious! Flavors offer up more of the same, with a chewy malt base and splashes upon splashes of citrus and pine to make things sticky. Bread dough and pine tree all in one. Solid mouthfeel. Very, and I mean VERY, drinkable.

Draught at the Brewpub in Greensboro 3/25/06: Clear golden yellow-amber body with a small white head. The aroma has some light citrus and fresh bitter hops with hints of light malt. The taste has dry bitter hops, pale malts, and a bit of grassy bitterness. Light-medium bodied, medium carbonated, feels very crisp on the palate. Finishes with some lightly bitter dried citrus hops.

From the tap, pours a clear orange-ish color with a small white head. Nothing in the nose, bland. Just a bitter grassy hops taste. Meh. Tastes like a homebrew kit pale ale.

Had a small taste of this when I was deciding what to fill my growler jug with in G-boro yesterday afternoon. The porter won, but just barely. This was a very pale, very fruity sweet pale. The palate was medium carbonated, medium bodied. The hops definitely left a little something to be desired. This is definitely a beer, I’d try again, but certainly not my favorite local pale ale.
