Bitterness was a bit to low for my palate to call Southern Pale Ale "a true American Style" [Pale Ale]. Crisp beer nonetheless, enjoyed at the PTI airport before flying back to PHL.

Oct 17, 2009 Draft at WBF Durham. Amber bodied. Short white head. Nose is citrusy hops, light caramel backbone, sweet malt and light pine. Taste is more pine and citrus with sweet malts, chewy caramel and pleasant hop bitterness. Body is medium with soft carbonation and light lingering bitterness. Ends with more caramel, citrus oils, piney hops and malt notes. Nothing extraordinary, but done well enough.

Oct 8, 2009 Sampled at WBF in Durham - poured a dark hazy golden color - aroma of hops, citrus and pine as you would expect. The taste was pretty typical of a standard APA as well. Nothing overly memorable from this ale.

Jun 14, 2009 Tap at the brewpub on 2/2/08: Clear effervescent bronze color with a frothy-lacing stringy off-white head. Aroma of lightly toasty caramel malts and some earthy grapefruity hops. Body starts lightly pale malty sweet with grassy piny bittering hoppiness. Finishes crisp and quite drinkable. A good APA.

Mar 21, 2009 red colored beer with a hint of pine and a dose of caramel in the nose. Flavor does have some good pine bitterness to it. More than I expected from the nose. The finish is pretty clean with no annoying malt sweetness to ruin it.

Feb 12, 2009 Gold pour with a hint of red. A clinging off white head and lace. Light malt and a very nice lite hop aroma. Medium semi sweet malt evergreen bitter. Creamy mouthfeel with light foamy carbonation. Very nice lasting bitter. My favorite so far.

Feb 8, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Amber in color, this has ample hop bitterness but also nice fruitiness in the finish.

Jan 22, 2009 The pour is clear deep yellow, with little to no head to speak of. Th aroma is sweet and citrusy hops. The flavor is very clean and light, the hops make give a nice clean crisp character. This is a good, easy drinking beer.
