Pours a rich light amber-orange color with a worthy sticky cap of foam. Lace sticks with so much determination, it seems you’d need an ice scraper to remove it. Aromas have a firm malty background, with a sweet citrusy and piney hop scent. Scrumptious! Flavors offer up more of the same, with a chewy malt base and splashes upon splashes of citrus and pine to make things sticky. Bread dough and pine tree all in one. Solid mouthfeel. Very, and I mean VERY, drinkable.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2007 Bottle thanks to badnloose. Pours a slightly dark amber color. Small white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is hoppy, with notes of pine and citrus. Flavor is citrus, with some floral notes. I really liked this one as it’s a very solid APA. Clear deep gold under a medium white head with very good staying power. Pine and citrus on the nose, just like the description promises. Medium body and carbonation, mildly resinous palate, but pretty clean. Honey like sweetness countered by a grapefruit bitterness that leads to a long dry finish. Not bad at all. badnloose (99), North Hollywood, California, USA

On further tasting this beast has taken on a much less abrasive bitterness. Amarillos are much more pronounced then they ever were before. Still bitter...still attractive, just more so.
Nothing too impressive. Not subtle either. (hoppy) More malt balance please. Only slightly sweet. Cascades for aroma, fuggles for bittering methinks. Earthy and slightly spicy. Niceley and subtely carbonated.
