Commercial Description:
A rich, full bodied Barley Wine with a wonderfully warming character from the malts & dark brown sugars. Held to the light, its burgundy color is fitting for a bigger beer that has aromatics that hint of the oak, the whiskey, the somewhat sweet nature, and molasses that makes this beer truly unique. The non-barrel-aged version of this beer took Silver in the 2009 US Open Beer Championships. Using Stranahan’s Whiskey barrels, we aged this beer for 6 months to impart a small amount of oak tannins and the whiskey character that combine to elevate this beer beyond its original entry into this world.

Bottle courtesy of bu11zeye. Murky orange brown appearance. Largely present smell. Tart smells with grainy fruit. Taste is way smooth. Smoother than I was expecting. Intense flavor with hot spice. Tingles beyond belief. Malts are slight. Wow, good.

Bottle number 1 thanks to bu11zeye! Pours with a hazy amber body and a fading white head. Aroma of fusel, strong barrel notes, caramel and some nuts. Taste is nutty with barrel, vanilla, american whiskey, vinous and caramel. Quite a dry finish for such a beer. Creamy mouthfeel and light bubbles. Look out, there is a damn good brewer in Nebraska!
