Aroma is perfumey hops- citrus-pine- with a background of sticky caramel flavor. Flavor is simple, nicely substantial caramel malt, light flavor of toasted bread, mild resiny hop-flavor, finish is fruity - with orange zest, passionfruit, mango- with light lingering bitterness. Probably my favorite widely-available IPA. CelticBrew (707), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA

Aroma of pine resins, grapefruit and hop. Flavour was sweet, grapefruits and resins dominate, with a nice and smooth caramel character n the end. Nice beer, would love to try on tap. michael-pollack (2728), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA

Bottle: Very hoppy aroma with notes of lychee, resin, and pine as well as some caramel malt. Poured amber in color with a medium sized off-white head that diminished quickly. Slightly hazy. Sparkling. Medium bitter flavor. Tastes of hops, resin, bubblegum, caramel malt, and pineapple. Medium body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Dry, bitter hop finish. The aroma is roasty, malty, sweet and has mild grapefruit hops. The taste begins with vague hop bitterness that builds into grapefruit citrus hop bitterness. By midway a river of medium roasted maltiness and sweet malts join the grapefruit juice bitterness created a pleasing combination. Very nice IPA with plenty of bold flavors of hops and malts. carl4beer (405), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA

Clear amber color with okay head. Taste and palate are very tea like - still and not very exciting. Somewhat chalky flavor and smell. Pretty decent overall - just nothing too special for me. jgb9348 (2515), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 25, 2007 Deep amber coloured body with a very hazy orange tint - very nice! Decent sized tan head that tops the beer as well. Medium-bodied; Strong hop flavour up front with a good malt backbone, finishing with a pleasant sweetness and a rather strong apricot flavour. Aftertaste has more toffee and caramel tucked in with the hops than anything else. Overall, a good IPA - not enough hops for me, but the other flavours show very well, along with the good malt backbone. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 25 November 2007.
