Floral/citrus aroma, grapefruit bitterness and malt backbone. This offering from Humboldt is not a typical West Coast IPA. timmy300 (199), bloomington, Illinois, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 1, 2005 Cracking the lid on this was like opening a bag of fresh cascade hops; such a strong hoppy aroma, bitey citrus and pine... enough to scare you off initially. The flavour, like the aroma, is also over powering until you get used to it; not really balanced. Finishes off nicely with rounded malt flavour and some tough bitterness that hangs around for a while. outerupt (133), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 18, 2005 In my opinion simply the best IPA around. Grapefruit is the most obvious flavor though does not begin to describe the complexities of this beer. Apples, pears, oranges, etc. sweet nectar without being cloying. Nice soapy head shows some birdseye bubbly. All this while being a great session brew. Ungstrup (15275), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 17, 2005 An orange beer with a disappearing orange head. The aroma is sweet and very hoppy, from a good hop sort (or combination), but also with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of grass and flowers, leading to a good bitter hoppy end, but the body is a little thin. BückDich (4851), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Oct 13, 2005 Ruby orange color, thin head, some lacing. Nose of musky, woody, dusty and overall earthy hops. The malts are present and is sort of "chapstickish" with vanilla notes. The flavor is good, a bit of bitterness and a nice level of body and sweetness to counterbalance. I like it when those two balance but don’t blend, I want to taste them both. The finish is resinous and sappy, juicy and citric. Good IPA, interesting to find out the hop varieties. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
