Nutty w/caramel - somewhat reminiscent of Anchor steam but with more hops. They didn’t overload the malt, which is probably why I like this so much. BückDich (4847), McCall, Idaho, USA

Strawberry and caramel grains. Rich and malty but something is missing here. Reid (1090), Salem, Oregon, USA

Good looking amber/red coloured ale, small light tan head, retains good lace throughout .
It has quite a malty aroma caramel like malts, though the hops are very apparent in the background.
Taste? well it starts with a very pleasant sweet honeyish maltiness, which after the initial sip gets rather "toasty and less sweet, the hops appear near the end and lend to a pleasant long lasting aftertaste.
Quite good on the tongue above average "fullness" for the style and smooth.
I found this ale very drinkable, would indeed make a nice session ale.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 17, 2005 Pours amber with a white head. Smells of cookie dough. Tastes peppery with some rosey notes. Sweet, watery finish. More balanced than most ambers I’ve had. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

Malty aromas, and some spice added to the flavor. Hoppy citrus, and an aftertaste with a very nice bite. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Nose of caramel malts and honey along with a touch of grapefruit hops. Flavor is quite floral with a nice honey sweet malt background. Nice hoppy slightly bitter finish. On the palate this is medium bodied and crisp and clean on the finish. A dandy amber ale... I’m not usually too into this style but this one is very drinkable! bubbleflubber (893), Collinsville, Virginia, USA

The nose is very comforting..... plumbs, honey and spice. Pours dark amber into glass with a decent head and thin spiderweb lace. Notes of syrupy fruit and caramel in the mid-palate with a nice floral hop back. After sitting 10 minutes or so, this brew (as most reds) really begins to open up. Great session beer, and one that’s very comforting to have all year round. Kudos! Firemoose15 (540), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 22, 2005 Out of a bottle, aroma light malt and floral. Poured dark copper full tan head. Taste was good sweet and I thought hoppy. Hop character was nice though not overbearing or bitter. Nice clean finish. Overall solid and good.
