The nose is very comforting..... plumbs, honey and spice. Pours dark amber into glass with a decent head and thin spiderweb lace. Notes of syrupy fruit and caramel in the mid-palate with a nice floral hop back. After sitting 10 minutes or so, this brew (as most reds) really begins to open up. Great session beer, and one that’s very comforting to have all year round. Kudos! Firemoose15 (542), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA

Taste was good sweet and I thought hoppy. Hop character was nice though not overbearing or bitter. Nice clean finish. Overall solid and good. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 14, 2005 Heavy copper/burgundy pour with good-sized tan head. Aromas of caramel malt, cabernet, cognac, plums, hops. Tastes red winey, with some plums, hops, and caramel malt in the finish. One of my top 10 red ales of all time. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 12, 2005 Medium to deep copper-colored body under a fluffy, almost-beige head that took awhile to fade. Aromas held roasted malts with light, grassy hops as well as a sharp, sour dose of blue cheese. Moderate bitter flavor with a wee bit of acidity late and a fairly short, dry finish.

Malt notes were mainly sweet like honey, a good hop balance in the finish. really smooth and easy to drink. Not watered down at all. HumuloneRed (750), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 4, 2005 12 oz. Bottle. Clear light red/amber in color. Not much head or lacing. Slightly citrus nose with some malt. Smooth malt flavor with a slight hop bite. Not bad. Nothing too exciting. Cornfield (4980), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA

The aroma is sweet & malty with a plummy fruitiness with just a touch of floral hops. This is a hardy, medium-bodied drink with a toasty malt flavor and a cherry sweetness nicely balanced with the hop bitterness. This has a snappy, dry finish. Not bad at all.
