BBB63 (3677), La Porte, Indiana, USA May 5, 2008 Bottle and served in a standard glass during my Cinco de Mayo lunch: Nice Amber hue with a lasting fizzy head and some lace. The aroma has notes of Carmel and husky grains, a hint of DMS, a hint of chocolate, and some herbal hop. (I smelled lime but think it was from across the bar, where it fu*king belongs). The taste is mildly malty and herbal but disappoints after that nice nose. Some dusty yeast and medicinal notes as well. A light to medium-bodied beer that is refreshing enough to stand up to the Chili Mole. It does what is should, cuts through the heat and spice therefore refreshing the palate for more food.
joeyplush (34), Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 18, 2008 Pours a medium brown color with an off-white head and decent lacing. A refreshing alternative to the regular caribbean beers. Light nuttiness and some alcohol in the aroma, with hints of caramel in the flavor. bulletrain76 (494), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jul 18, 2008 12oz bottle. Clear amber witha small and short-lived head. Some light nuttiness and caramel in the aroma, but has a processed, industrial twang to it as well. The flavor is rather light and simple compared to other viennas that I’ve had; a touch of cramel, but not much in the way of toastier malt complexities. Close to an American Dark, if you ask me, but it does have firmer hop bitterness that keeps it decently firm and crisp. Light and highly carbonated mouthfeel. brokephibroke (16), , Colorado, USA Jul 14, 2008 deep amber minimal off white head. Smells of sweet caramel and malts. Smooth palate, unremarkable taste with formeldehyde in the background. maltdog (406), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 14, 2008 Bottle at home... first time I ever had this in other than a too-small, fluted mug coated with ice. Pours a superclear tobacco color with sparse foam and lacing. Mild nutty aroma with almost Belgianish plum/banan/stewed fruits, plus yeasty and toasted wood scents. Smoky?Understated and brief smooth malty/almond flavor, breadcust and molasses, and licorice and (almost) chocolatey notes. Clipped, tart finish... gently spicy aftertaste. Unsubstantia watery mouthfeel, yet with a buttery(?) texture, and sharpened by CO2. Expect for aroma, falls short of expectations. hero12 (29), USA Jul 13, 2008 Poured dark with a head that came in full and settle a little for the rest of the enjoyment. It was a dark brown color with a pleasant nutty aroma. It had a fairly strong taste that had a hint of caramel. Overall a very drinkable beer.
