Tasted at Squire’s Bar and Cafe in Nelson with Donfardz64 Some roasted malts in the nose. A skunky lagery scent. Not a lot in the aroma. Tastes like a lager with added burnt malt, some toffee notes. Nothing more really. Like a boring schwarzbier.

Pours dark brown, creamy tan head. Hints of roast malt on the nose, not much there. Feel watery in the mouth, weak roast malt flavour. Mild hop bitterness, very clean finish. Okay, but boring.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, dark brown with an orange hue and a dense, beige head. Lightly burned malts in the nose. Light in body with lightly sweet, burned malt accents and an edge of cardboard. Lightly sweet, burned caramel accents and a dry finish with a rather subdued bitterness. 040208

Dark almost opaque body and white dense head. Aroma with malt and caramel. Also caramel in the taste. Chocolate in the finish along with caramel.

Black with copper tones. fabulous head retention. Toffee malts on the nose. Light but sweet. Dryish, dark malt palate, if a bit thin & 1 dimensional.

Bottled. Very dark brown, small beige head. Earthy and intensely chocolatey. Soft with light to medium body and notes of plastic. Fairly low hop rate, and the bitterness is rather low. MIlk chocolate finish.

Tasted 17/09/2005. Full English pints at the house bar, Accents on the Park, after visiting the brewery the day before. Near black, deep ruby, with a thin, creamy, light tan head. Nice full dark chocolate nose. Good smooth mouthfeel, not too heavy, with a good dose of chocolate malt and a dry roasted barley finish. Lovely little, easy drinking, drop from an interesting brewery. Tried before, in the bottle, and it hasn’t been anywhere near as good.
