Commercial Description:
Is a heavenly marriage of an Irish-style dry stout and an Oatmeal stout. By complimenting the dominant roasted barley accents of a dry stout with the unmistakably rich and silky finish that only oatmeal can provide.

Pours rich a creamy. Nice thick off white head. Full cup of coffee and sweet malt. This is a full beer that is a great example of the style IMO.

Bottle. Nice and black stout with a thick, lasting head (the way I like it). Aroma is hard to describe, but pleasant. Taste is dominated by the oatmeal bitterness, although I can sense some sweet dark barley malt in the background. Love the bitter finish.

Awesome colour. Black/tan as night with nothing getting through. Awesome nose with walnuts, ancient grains & fresh rain dew....not to mention the oatmeal and chocolate notes! Well rounded bitter entry with lots of dark cocao but also an off-note of burnt toast. Mid-palate brings sweep of sugary oatmeal, but its over-sweet. True oatmeal is enjoyed for its grain quality, and not for the muted-down sugar soup that many people enjoy. Carbonation is perfect and the finish full of malted barley.

This poured a dark brown with a smallish, light brown head. The head died off rather quickly and no lacing resulted. Aroma was very slight, a bit of coffee was suggested. Taste was nice, both malt and coffee were on show.

Was expecting a bit more body and flavour. Found it quite watery and thin but yet still a bit oily and an odd salty taste overwhelming the light chocolate and roast malts.

Very dark brown, slightly hazy, dense tan cap. Rich chocolate and coffee roast aroma. Same flavour profile, with coffee dominating, and an ashy earthy element. Quite an assertively bitter finish. A very nice stout in my opinion. I didn’t find it watery at all.

Not bad for a BC stout. Good black color and thick head. Aromas of oat, malt, and a little bit like burnt chocolate syrup. Some hops in there too! The flavor does erupt pleasantly and the draught becomes well-rounded, smooth, and bitter in a goodly way. Aftertaste has some roasted malt character that make the brew moreish. It’s medium-bodied too, and can be considered a good party stout. Pleasant lacing, and a good overall effort from the deadheads up in Nelson.
