jbrus (4184), Delft, Netherlands Aug 6, 2008 Cask@WetherspoonDover. Citric and light grassy aroma. Pale yellow color, white tiny irregular head, few lace. Sweet, bread, grassy, hint of citrus. Medium body and light dry. Unbalanced in the flavor. SilkTork (3941), Rochester, Kent, England Jan 27, 2007 Updated: Mar 1, 2008Jan, 2007 Bottle conditioned - from the brewery market stall, Rochester. This is nothing like the usual Nelson - this is clean, crisp and refreshing with lots of grapefruit bite, with just a touch of chocolate. A modern ale. No grease, no dirt, no tiredness, no murk. An exciting beer, rather like the sort that Titanic make. I had thought this was good because Nelson have a new brewer - but I see that Spiesy had this in 2004, and thought the same thing. This is good. I’m impressed, and I’m surprised. [3.5]
March, 2008 Cask, JDW, Rochester Light, refreshing, fragrant - soft citric notes above a mild toffee / caramel base. Easy drinking and very pleasant. Best Nelson ever! [3.6] harrisoni (5359), Ashford, Kent, England May 20, 2006 Cask handpull at Simple Simons, Canterbury. Gold, lasting off white head. Citric, thinnish summer session bitter. Hop is dusty, but got good lemony acid on finish. Bit of hay/grass aroma. Some grapefruit. Dusty session bitter. Fine chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England Oct 5, 2004 Very pale straw/gold colour. Citric, clean and crisp. Not packed with flavour but very palatable. Cask (handpump), The Elephant, Faversham.
Spiesy (2331), Global Citizen, Greater London, England Jul 13, 2004 Cask Conditioned, at the Wenlock Arms, London. Golden, bright and in fantastic condition. This beer was fully hopped and spectacularly refreshing. Hops were everywhere, flowery, citrus, fruity loveliness. I’ve not thought that much of Nelson brewery in the past but this beer made me eat my words on the day and has forced me to reconsider my opinion. Footnote. Whilst I can’t find any other reference to a plane bitter produced by Nelson, I did go back to the WA and double check with Dave and the pub clip. 3.7% ABV for this one.
