hughie (2278), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Aug 25, 2006 Cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Light gold with a small white head. Medicinal aroma: elastoplast, honey and lemon Lemsip, with a whiff of wet horse. The taste is artificial lemon with a hint of ginger. Not much bitterness. Not good. For me a definite drainpour. haddonsman (1191), Derby, Derbyshire, England Mar 21, 2006 Cask (gravity) at the Brunswick festival, 2005. Forget what I may have said elsewhere, this was beer of the fest for me. Very demanding nose of fresh lemon, less in the flavour as it calms down to a more gently spiced flavour. And something herbal in there, rather like those Fentimans soft drinks? Very refreshing, must try this again when the weather’s warmer. chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England Oct 9, 2005 Cask (gravity dispense). Beer #13 at Bedford Beer Festival 2005. Amber colour. This was odd. When I first bought this the first sniff almost took my breath away with the lemon and spiciness. However, a bit later, I put the beer down next to different one, forgot which was which and was hard pressed to pick up the lemon at that point. The flavour is mildly bitter, slightly sharp and more gingery than lemony. Mouthfeel is a bit soft. Started promisingly but didn’t quite finish the job.
maeib (4012), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Oct 9, 2005 Updated: Oct 11, 2005Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Bedford BF. Acopper coloured beer with an aroma of both lemon and ginger. There is some toilet cleaner or washing up liquid mixed in - all of this sounds pretty nasty but it’s actually quite a nice smell. The taste is fruity and herbal. More lemon and maybe some rosemary. Quite nice.
