zootfinster (151), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 14, 2008 This beer I really enjoyed but not as a traditional porter. Poured a dark brown with respectable head. Medium malty aroma. and flavor. Lacked the usual chocolate taste of most porters. Rather sweet and almost refreshing. Nice full body, medium carbonation nice long finish. I haven’t seen this around before but I will certain look for it in the future

Meduim foamy head. Aroma is dark malts without roast - featuring a chocolatey syrupy molasses nuttiness and a touch of pruney fruitiness. Vague herbal hop. Flavor is balanced, with a light almost crisp drying palate, with a very mild roasted malt component, and a wee hint of chocolate. Finish is semi-dry - there’s not alot of big sweet malt in this one at all, although there’s some vague fruitiness that brings a welcome layer of complexity. Would love to try the cask version. texasbartender (126), Sugarland, Texas, USA Jun 14, 2008 The beer pours watery black amber with a thin tan head that settles and disappears quickly. The nose is great with deep notes of molasses, coffee, and chocolate. The nose and the taste and not in line with each other. The great nose makes you think that the flavor would be great but the flavor is watery and weak. The finish is short lived Ibrew2or3 (1606), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jun 8, 2008 05.L bottle pours brown with clear amber edges and thin tan head. The aroma seems to border a bit on the Baltic Porter side with unmistakably drool causing sweet dark fruity esters of dark grape jam, plums and dates. I also get a malt backbone of moderately roasted malts mixing with biscuit malts and nuttiness. Also seem to smell a bit like an English style barleywine. The taste begins with a pulse of sweet molasses and roasted malts. That experience is quickly erased by a wave of fruity esters from such notes as grapes, sugar coated pears, prunes and a bit of raisin. I also detect just a hint of tartness or bitterness from probably either the hops or a bit of malt astringency or both. A bit too fruity for the style but pretty tasty.
