[2310-20090712] Cask. Mild apple roast aroma. Clear, dark brown body with a medium-lasting foamy light tan head. Roasted apple skins flavour has a long sweet aftertaste. Medium body. Not bad though for some reason "furry spider" comes to mind...

Cask @ Victory Summer Fest. Aroma of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and brazil nuts, black as coal, small toffee head. Taste is a sourish toffee, pitfruit. Light bodied, but I felt it’s incomplete as it doesn’t satisfy. O.K.

Cask at Victory Cafe
Appearance: Dark brown ale with light fizzy, creamy top , little light shown trough.
Nose: sweet nose with dark malts , bit plain in character , light hint of hop with dry darkness.7-
Flavor/Palate : Slightly citric , sour feel with dark malts. Roasty with cider like follow up. Such blend did not work for me. Interesting still.

Cask. At Victory Cafe Summer Fest 2009. Brown-black pour, small frothy/creamy off-white head. Sort of a fruity porter aroma, tart roast, a bit nutty. A pretty decent roasty beer (stout?) in the background, and you don’t so much taste the cider as notice the lightening of the body and the sourness it imparts - I liked the flavour, but I don’t think I’d drink too much of it. Thinnish body, a little acidic (building to more acidic), with an odd roasty/tart aftertaste - well done trying something unusual, but I put it with the sahtis I’ve tried: interesting, not something I want to revisit.

Cask at Victory Summer Fest, named Black Velvet - poured a nice dark, dark brown with some reddish highlights at the edges. Aroma of some roast with a slight sour edge. Flavour is where the cider really comes out, and stands up to the beer flavours without overpowering them. Seemed more like a stout than a porter, with a bit more sweetness and a little less roastiness. I wonder if this is their Texas Tea with cider added? Be interested to see the recipe. Superb. Kudos to the brewer for trying something different (although I believe Church Key did a similar beer a few years back...never tried it though).

Victory cask fest. Pours black with an attractive white head, left lots of lace. Decent aroma. Above average mouthfeel. Sourness from the cider mix, at the brewery. The sourness builds up quickly, and makes it not very drinkable.
