I had this at a restaurant in Tobermory(tub or tubbyboat or some such name) a few months ago. A deep amber pour unleashed a frothy, but short lived white cap. Grainy, caramel malty nose with a bit of hops and grass. Tasted much of the same with added sweet fruit and a bit of metallic hops towards the finish. I don’t think was a one off.

Draft. C’est What FOSB. Golden amber body with a small white head. Light fruity aroma, some malt. Similar flavour with light caramel notes. Average palate. Pleasant and drinkable, but the 10W30 is more interesting.

Draught @ C’est What. A Tale of Two Beers. At first, gives the impression of a clean, fresh, malty, not-too-carbonated ale, one you could really pour down your gullet. But in mid-gulp you notice it gets difficult towards the back of the palate: finishing like a lager, with cheesy, mineral and metallic notes, essentially ruining the effect.

Draught sample at Bar Towel pre-tasting for C’est What Spring ’06 Festival. Orange-amber with a small head. Aroma of sweet, slightly earthy malt - fresh and pleasant. Body is soft and a bit light. Flavour is mellow to start, with the earthy malt suggested by the aroma, but it turns a bit astringent and harsh in the finish. It’s an interesting experiment that I would probably enjoy more if I was a bigger fan of the two beers that were blended to make this one.
