Nice brownish gold, thick head, generous bubbling. Aroma is delightful -- floral, hoppy, with notes of sweet grass and rum. Taste is not timid, full-on malt, coffee, chocolate and generous bitter hops. Mouthfeel as good as most any lager. Good overall choice in full-bodied Dortmunder.

I’m acutally enjoying this quite a bit. It has a slightly bitter, malt, wet seed aftertaste, which I’ve come to enjoy. It’s definitely funky about it, but it’s also very crisp and clean and comes together as a fine lager. Nice golden color, but not much head. Aroma is a bit flat, too. Average mouthfeel... not too dry, which is a plus.

Appearance: bright golden to orange in color, with a short, white head. Aroma: thick, bold, fruity (orange, citrus, peach), some hops, but largely malt, which provides the big sweetness that abounds through every aspect of this brew. So sweet that it’s a touch candyish at times, and a little coppery, too. Reminds me of a marzen/Oktoberfest, though it also feels a bit like a bock. A rich nose, with considerable depth. Smooth tasting, with a faint, lingering, fruity sweet finish, with more flavors emerging as we drink. Huge malt is everywhere, in each swallow and gulp, very giving, very generous, rich and delicious. A very tasty lager, which would go fine with most any meal, and isn’t bad on it’s own. No wonder those monks look so damned contented!

Not good. Sweet honey-ish nose, pale copper color, no head. Odd grape, fruity taste with brown sugar flavors. Artificial chemical end. Thin and watery.

Not much head. A malty aroma. At some points it seemed to have some munich character. At other points it seemed to be hiding a little candi sugar. Very little hops at all, flavor, aroma or bittering. I did drink it a little onthe warm side, mid 50’s

Hazy, bright amber-copper color with a small foamy off white head with some lacing. Has a sweet fruity and nutty aroma. Sweet and malty, bready caramel flavors, finishes sweet, medium body with a smooth and lightly carbonated mouthfeel, alcohol well hidden.
