I ordered this last night at my favorite local bar. Specifically i asked what the hell is that to the left of the Orval, (which sucks for a Belgian :)), and the bartender replied in Gibberish something from Germany.Apparently it is a tasty lager, quite malty with almost no hop finish. Sweet caramel and honey flavors abound. These guys brew a lot of diferrent beers yet no one has rated or added them.

Pours a yellow orange with a slight lasting white head. This beer is a school in malt, all wrapped up in one glass (or bottle). Huge malty/bready aroma. Big malty smooth bread flavor. Lingers. I don't think there are any hops in this that I can talk about, so hopheads beware and avoid. I love the malt character of this brew and wish I could use this as a base for an IPA for it would win every homebrew competition in the world.

Nice brownish gold, thick head, generous bubbling. Aroma is delightful -- floral, hoppy, with notes of sweet grass and rum. Taste is not timid, full-on malt, coffee, chocolate and generous bitter hops. Mouthfeel as good as most any lager. Good overall choice in full-bodied Dortmunder.

Light amber color with some variation from top to bottom. Bubbly white head dissipates at a medium pace. Very intriguing aroma...strong on raisins and brown sugar...much more complex than Lagers I’m accustomed to. Very sweet and sugary flavor is also high in malt and has strong hints of honey. Creamy smooth on the palate with a light aftertaste. This was an excellent lager IMO and something I would actually seek for in the future.

Classy looking tall-thin necked 16oz. brown bottle, classy label and even the cap is classy. Color is a direct reason for the name, at least thats my take, its a solid haze of gold color a little more clear at the bottom of the glass. Thinly topped of loose glue-like white bubbles which faded in a snap, leaves a thin ring and tiny spotty lace. Smell is all sweet malts, hints of caramel and honey, a hard candy-like sense lingers in the the nose. Taste is also all malts, sweet, in a easy fruity sense, creamy, smooth, rich, like a liquid Jolly Rancher of malt, a bit of caramel like smoothness and taste as well. Full body feel, rich, and creamy smooth with a thinning fruitish presense in the finish. Pretty good pleasing malt crazy lager.

Light gold with sweet fruit and malt aromas. First taste is honey-dipped malts, followed by an orange-like fruitiness. Tastes like more of a dessert wine than what you would expect for a lager. Thick and malty sweet. Good stuff. Very faint bitter finish.
