HenrikSoegaard (4263), Randers, Denmark Oct 30, 2009 Bottle at Die Kleine Bierstube. Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Dark almost black ruby colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Very nice roasted moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. saxo (3513), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Oct 30, 2009 Bottle. Nice creamy head with excellent duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are burnt caramel, roast malt, notes of chocolate and smoke. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Jul 22, 2009 16.9 oz. bottle. Dark, almost black, clear ruby pour under a small off white head. Roasted nuts and some chocolate highlight the malty aroma. Smooth, medium body that has a light richness in the palate. Burnt sugar flavor extends well into the finish, and the gentlest of bitterness provides the needed balance. Much better as it warms to nearly room temperature. Smooth, drinkable, malty, a nice example of the style. Bragesnak (2223), Aarhus, Denmark Jul 16, 2009 Tasting at DØE-meeting, Aarhus Syd, DK.

piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Apr 28, 2009 Bottled sample. Near black in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. Flavor wise, it’s malt forward with strong notes of molasses, chocolate, and saltwater toffee. Minerally dry finish, with an odd sweet overlay. Somewhat porter-like, but the molasses flavor carries through way too long, making for a somewhat cloying beverage. Average. ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Apr 1, 2009 Bottled(500ml). -Beer for bathing and drinking...Interesting. Black coloured, small brown head, sugary buttery nose. Light roasted malt, brown sugar and chocolate with mild notes of spices and alcohol. Very oily. Solid beer but something is missing. islay (470), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 18, 2009 16.9 oz. bottle, labeled "Neuzeller Kloster-Brau Original Bathbeer." Refreshing, malty, musty aroma features caramel, toffee, butterscotch, and brown sugar scents. Sweet, buttery smell. Pours a clear dark brown with a red hue and fluffy, uneven, frothy, beige head. A lot of small bubbles attach to the glass. Cool, crisp, appetizing appearance. Sweet start to the taste; dull coffee middle; tangy finish. Soda water and minerals in the flavor. Simplistic. Light body. Crisp, watery, and fizzy in the palate.
