| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Jul 5, 2004 Green peas in the aroma (Is that DMS? I've never come across green peas in beer before). Clear, very dark brown with almost non-existant head that dissipates completely. Flavour of smoked green peas with a roasty background. Thin body. Chalky mouthfeel. Quite still as carbonation fizzes off with the head. Bottle (sampled with MartinT, Rastacouere and some non-RB tasters). Ernest (4491), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 30, 2004 Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is black (not opaque). Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, dark chocolate, coffee, toasted dark bread), lightly hoppy (flowers). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Deliciously balanced and textured, clean, and has a wonderfully attractive malt aroma. Difficult to stop drinking long enough to write a review. Me like Neuzeller. Trappist (279), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 14, 2004 Semi-sweet with hints of chocolate and coffee. Very palatable, smooth and somewhat dry. Nothing overly special here. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 12, 2004 Medium hazelnut brown head, dark brown nearly black. Clay nose with sweet malt - weird though. Sweet malt taste also with some weird undertones. Not that good for Schwarzbeer and an oily texture that makes this a bathbeer I guess. pivo (2535), Germany
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 12, 2004 Very malty nose with a slightly foul egg smell, dark dark brown color and foamy head. Syrupy malt with some peat in the middle and a coffee-like finish. Odd aftertaste. Thin body. Not thrilling overall. WabashMan (809), Noblesville, Indiana, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 10, 2004 Really not a fan of this one. The appearance of this schwarzbier was its highlight, but the flavor and nose were both weak and watery. Obviously not an overbearing style, but this was incredibly underdeveloped. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 6, 2004 Bottle: Aroma is coffee and rubbing alcohol. Not the most pleasant combination. Pours a very dark brown, almost black. Decent tan head that is short lasting. Nice lacing. Flavor is a little weak. Not much up front with a roasted nut finsih. Very watery texture. Aftertaste is that of peanuts.
