Ungstrup (11713), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 30, 2005 A black beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor is somewhat weird, roasted and with slight notes of chocolate. The body is thin. Papsoe (11076), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 20, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) Pitch black - almost opaque - with a weak, reddish glow. Handsome, light brown head. Very soft and pleasant, without the sharp, ashy edge that sometimes haunt Schwarzbiers. Has added alcohol! Neuzeller never really cared too much about the Reinheitsgebot.... 100203 yespr (7788), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jul 17, 2008 50 cL bottle. Pours visible brown with a golden redish glare and a creamy and tan head. Roasted malt aroma and with dried fruit accents. Flavour is dry breadish malt - towards roasted. Quite clean and pleasing. Mild dried fruity note following. Goes into a nice finish with notes of fruit and more of the smooth roasted breadish malt flavours. Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 9, 2001 Almost black; Toasty aroma - slight coffee; palate has dry, husky dark malts....then the problems start showing up. There is too much carbonation, and the body gets thin. As it warms, cardboardy flavours come out. Clearly, this sample has spent too much time in the distribution chain. The flavours are pretty good (like a cappucino & a peanut doughnut), though, so a fresh bottle would be worth drinking. I have ignored the flaws as best as I could in my rating. joergen (6821), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 30, 2005 Draft.
