(bottle) Dark brown colour with a brown foamy medium head. Sweet caramel aroma with only a hint of roasted malts. Initially moderate sweetmalty taste with a liquorice-coffee-finish. A quaffable Schwarzbier Bock !

Dug up my notes from trying this one about 5 years ago. I bought in a tourist shop near Berlin. Extremely dark color with dark beige head. Complex in both aroma and flavor with roasted/burnt malt, coffee, licorice, bread. Much more complex than some of the other Schwarzbiers.

Jet black with creamy tan head and very good lacing. The aroma has notes of raisin and fig, walnut, cocoa butter, soem floral hops and dusty yeast esters. The taste starts sweet and quite malty with a smoky and coffee undertone. A bit of a lactic twang and some fruity hints throughout. The finish is dry and earthy. The feel is smooth and a bit lush, quite drinkable. This is a solid porter which offers some good depth.

Black. And I mean Black! Chocolatey with some licorice and sweet burned toast. Maybe a hint of coffee as well. Black coffe. Interesting.

This is one of the easiest drinking 7% alcohol beers I ever had.My wife had a sip and said it was good! Its like the bastard child of a milk stout and a viena! Black with a light tan head that faded. Sweet malt with roasted coffee and chocolate.Thin mouthfeel how is it possible at 7% they must use sugar? Very Drinkable

Rich dark walnut-stain with tiny lacy head, smelling of chestnuts. Mouthfeel is light yeat meaty--rich in a cash-money, not a butterfat kind of way. Coffee, honey (a toned-down version of the uber-tasty Black Abbot by same brewers), and a touch of milk-porter. Finish introduces and then dismisses hops in a polite and professional manner. A very dynamic and impressive beer--with none of the 7+ abv showing at all. One of my new favorites.

Pours a very deep brown with a small to almost no head. Aroma is choco-malty with a coffee and chocolate flavor. This is nice brew indeed.
