Commercial Description:
Rich, roasty and very full bodied. Neuzeller Porter is brewed in the grand tradition of Eastern European porters.

Rich dark walnut-stain with tiny lacy head, smelling of chestnuts. Mouthfeel is light yeat meaty--rich in a cash-money, not a butterfat kind of way. Coffee, honey (a toned-down version of the uber-tasty Black Abbot by same brewers), and a touch of milk-porter. Finish introduces and then dismisses hops in a polite and professional manner. A very dynamic and impressive beer--with none of the 7+ abv showing at all. One of my new favorites.

Pours a very deep brown with a small to almost no head. Aroma is choco-malty with a coffee and chocolate flavor. This is nice brew indeed.

Very black beer; brown creamy head. Nose as of sweet bread, charcoal, and something lactic - milk stout nose. Very stoutlike taste, but a sweet stout, caramelised, with roasted grains, bit soapy but nice. Imagine Guinness VSES without the stout acidity. Very well-bodied, nearly chewy. Liquorice in the aftertaste. Very original, and hence very un-German beer - not that countries’ forte.

Dark, almost black. Some cocoa and coffee aromas. Smooth initial taste with slighty smoky light toasty maltiness. Good hoppy finish that lingers just long enough.

Pours with a two-finger,creamy light tan head that fades slowly leaving an even lace. Black and opaque. Medium carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Nose is chocolate. Starts and finishes with a roasted chocolate/coffee flavor, better as it warms. $4.70 for a 16 oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA.

Dark brown body with beige head. Malty aroma with yeast and an acidic touch. Flavor has some roasted malts with a slight sour finish.

Black with no head. Aroma was coffee and chocolate. Flavor the same with some grape or prune. Very smooth but a little watery.
