Aroma of black chocolate and light roasted malt is quite enjoyable. Taste is a nice enough mix between some black chocolate with light dry roasted malt with lingering sweetness at the end. Body is fuller then average with good carbonation and no signs of alcohol. Not overly complex but well done and easily drinkable. thepegjett (98), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Sampled during Cellar’s final beer tasting in St Paul, MN. From a 500ml bottle pours a near opaque dark brown brew with a beige head that slowly dissipates to a creamy beige film top. Aroma of toasted dark malt, a hint of chocolate and dark tobacco. Taste is medium bodied, light on the carbonation with flavors of toasted dark malt, some chocolate, prunes, a hint of smoked wood and some dark pitted fruits. Finish is semi-dry with a quick disappearing dark malt aftertaste. thebeertourist (2822), Oslo, Norway
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 6, 2009 Bottle. Almost black with a dense tan head. Meaty roasted malts aroma with chocolate in the background. Sweet, smoked malty flavours. A bit flat and irony. More in the Bamburg tradition than the Baltic, in my opinion. Working on the body, they would receive a good boost in ratings. Ughsmash (4079), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Bottled. Poured deep brown and quite lifeless with no head even upon agitation. The aroma picked up darker chocolate, coffee, and soy sauce with a light oaky accent to it.. nice. The flavor was centered around the soy with roasted darker chocolate rolling outward.. coffee bitterness was accented by alcohol warmth at the edges and through the dry-roasted finish. Medium-bodied with too little carbonation (not much at all) on the palate.. warmth stuck around for a while.. grew on me, but it still wasn’t a great porter.
