In the 0.5L bottle from Beertopia. Pours a jet black with absolutely no head whatsoever. A truly ugly beer. Aroma is of strong coffee and roasted malts. Simply delicious candy sweetness to the taste. Great chocolate and coffee flavors in a medium bodied beer. Ugly, but effective. I get some licorice tastes as well. This is a beer that I will have again. "She ain’t pretty, but she sure can count good."

This pours a thick dark brown and turns into an oily black in the glass. It’s head is slender, tan, and soon gone. It smells of dark, lightly roasted malts, anise, caramel, chocolate, and dark dried fruits. The mouthfeel is thick, rich, creamy, and slightly hot. The roasted malts become more prominent in the flavor. Smoothly blended in are tastes of powdery cocoa, licorice, raisins and prunes, and an alcohol presence that grows as the beer warms. The finish is hot & sticky. A very nice Baltic Porter from Germany, one worth repeating.

pours an inky black color, small mocha colored head. Very smooth and rich, chocolate, licorice and a sort of figgy taste as well. Some alcohol is evident as well. Really good porter.

Pours pitch black with a fully receding tan head. Aroma of licorice, candy, and chocolate. Taste is dark malt, cocoa, licorice, and foamy chocolate. Mouthfeel is full bodied with smooth carbonation. Very rich and tasty. A quite impressive porter from Germany.

The aroma of this beer is of raisins and molasses. It’s lightly carbonated with a thin head. Malt, sweet, it has quite a lot of raisin flavor in it.

From a 500 ml. narrow neck bottle with a freshness date that is too scratched up to read, short blurb on the back label. Poured a porter black with a small tan head. Aromas of dark fruits and raisins, molasses, caramel and a light alcohol. Good, even, moderate carbonation and a softly crisp, smooth medium bodied mouthfeel. Tastes of dark fruits and chocolate covered raisins, molasses, caramel toffee, plum flavored alcohol, a very light hop bitterness towards the end and a roasted chocolate, coffee malt finish with a lingering plum fruitiness. A decent Baltic Porter, not a great one, but still very drinkable.

Best by 12/07/04. Black with brown edges and a thin tan film on top. Flavor and aroma of a roasted dark chocolate milkshake. Just a hint of vinegar on the finish. Medium body is a bit thin due to the age, smooth. Very nice, even if it is past its prime.

A German porter? I’m game for anything. Black pour with a fairly large tan head. Nice lacing and head retention. Aroma is caramel, chocolate, licorice. Creamy and slick mouthfeel with very low carbonation, sweet finish. Light acidity is in the back though. Got harder to drink by the end... hard to explain but basically the acidity and the sweetness combined.
