Not doing it for me. The pour was dark brown to black, some ruby / mahoganey edges and hues. Weak initial head, near to nil lacing. The aroma was raisins, vinous, light coffee aromas. Flavor was dark fruits, raisins in particular, chocolate and coffee, molasses, lots of burnt but unfermented sugars (in an ick sort of way), and some milk stout type character too. Not a good blend of flavors, although a lot going on. Mouthfeel was moderate with a light acidity. Blah.

500 ml bottle poured an opaque brownish black with a lingering brown head. Aromas of burnt molasses, dark fruit, bakers chocolate and espresso. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, milk chocolate, roasted malt, light plum and a hint of smoke with a smooth sweet finish.

Bottle from Super Saver that I am opening as I type this. The rating is very high, and that is good. The pour is dark blackish with almost no light through my desk lamp, and a minimal brown head. The aroma is heavy corn flakey malty, with some cacao, brown sugar, and molasses. The palate is rich and complex, with a great roasty dark patent malt flavor up front, giving way to a lot of chocoff hints, plus some molasses, prunes, slight cherry, and ovaltine. Very complex and well balanced, this is a repeater for next week.

Bottle: Black colour, with a flat head. Aroma of Dark chocolate, and a bit bit of bitternes in the end. Smouth, medium to full body, toffee mouth feeling, and a anonymius bitterness in the end. But a werry nice German Porter!!

(Bottle 50 cl) Completely black and opaque with a rich, beige head leaving laces as it dissipates. Rather sweet aroma of roasted malt. Rather full-bodied with sweetish accents of roasted malt - never burned though. Some alcohol in the finish. A rare German Porter. And even more rare: a GOOD German Porter. 060806

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours black and almost opaque - no head at all. Sweetish, roasted aroma. Very full-bodied and thick, almost tar-like with a high degree of sweetness. Lots of burned malt and a somewhat ashy edge. Rather subdued bitterness. Reminds me of an Imperial Stout. 270406

Almost black with nutty brown sides. A thin head that is off-white and sticks to the glass. Aroma is doughy, with plums, roasted, some coffee and a bit of liquorice. Low to medium carbonated, though still kind of fresh. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Burnt taste with liquorice, sweetness and a bit of a vinious tone.
