Black with a quickly dissipating head. Sweet dark malt aroma, This beer is so sweet-- a bit too sweet for me. It doesn’t tast bad. The dark--not roasted--malt flavors are nice. The low alcohol content with no hops presence cannot hold up to the level of sweetness which leaves us with a very unbalanced beer. Could be nice for a night cap or when you find yourself in a peculiar mood.

Bottle. Dark brown color, almost black with a very small tan head that quickly dissippated. Nice roasted malt aroma with some caramel. Horribly sweet! Like one of those malt based sodas. A bit of smoke on the aftertaste. Cloying, with not enough carbonation to cut through the sweetness. Cannot finish this beer.

For some it may be sweet; very sweet. But when I am in the mood one of these is perfect, emphasis on ONE. Caramel/Custard aroma and taste...the question lingers, how do they make this beer?

Pours black/reddish with a thin diminishing head. Fudgy, caramel, tobacco aroma. Extremely sweet, acidic, somewhat woody flavour. Sticky palate. Flavour from coffee in finish.

Bottled. Clear brown coloured with a beige head. Aroma of malts, butter and smoke with roasted notes. Sweet flavour with notes of smoke and some roasted notes. Too sweet for my liking.

Appearance and aroma is almost decent but the flavour is - as other raters have pointed out - overwhelmingly (and inappropriately!) sweet. A Schwarzbier has - and I quote - »Low sweetness in aroma and flavor«. Definitely not brewed according to the German Reinheitsgebot.
