Very black body with a medium colored tan head. Aroma of roasted walnuts and some sweet caramel. There is also a little rotting pear and rubbing alcohol. The taste is extraordinarily sweet with pancakes and some apples. There is a tiny hint of roasted flavors. This is terrible. The majority went down the drain.

06.18.05 .5l bottle. Nearly black pour with rootbeer brown head that lasts and laces. Aroma is nice, it’s quite roasty and dry with barely a hint of anise, marzipan. First sip is a shock; this stuff is like a reduced super roasty coffee in a 50-50 solution wtih corn syrup. One of the sweetest beers I’ve ever had. Coffee candy all the way. Wow.

A dark colored beer with very little aroma. Very sweet tasting tasting with a barely discernable hint of roast flavoring.

Bottle, Delerium Café, Brussel, March 2005. Black with red hints, thin off white head and moderate condition. Quite sweet and malty in the nose, which carries through into the mouth were it gains some balance from a roasted bitterness and a hint of liquorice. More roasted barley and liquorice in the finish but sweet malt extract notes dominate.

(on bottle) Ver, very brown/black clour and a hard molasses sent all over. sweet like "hvidtřl", with the canesugar, cinamon, molasses and cookiedough.. Finish is watery, with a mini-mini tad of smoke.

Black colour, medium sized brownish head, quickly dimishing; aroma of roasted malts and liquorice, absolutely no hints of hops; sweetish, smooth beginning, quite sweet"thick" flavour, nearly no aftertaste, well hidden alcohol. Not well balanced, lacks some hoppiness and a more distnictive aftertaste. Couldn’t drink the whole bottle..........

(bottle) Dark brown colour and almost brown head. Aroma of hops and sugar with some malts. Very sweet flavour, taste of malts and molasses with a bit hopped finish with hints of chocolate. This one is way too sweet for me.

bottle. Pours a dark, thick looking black. Whew! is this beer sweet or what!? It was like drinking beer that had been mixed with maple syrup, it was hard to detect any other flavors because of the nearly abusive sweetness of the brew. I can see why moonks brewed this for fasting, all that residual sugar! makes sense that the abv is so low, that yeast never got to eat enough in my opinion. Well the jury is still out on this one for me, maybe just too sweet for my palate, but it seems like a ok beer.
