| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 30, 2004 Black/brown colour. Off-white, foamy head. Caramalty aroma. Sugary, sweet, caramalty taste with notes of coffee and chocolate. They should add less sugar, than this beer would get higher ratings. I can taste a very nice Schwarzbier beneath all that sugar. wilkie (1191), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 4, 2004 Bottle. Dark, ruby-tinged color, with off-white head. Aroma is very sweet and malty. Flavor is very sweet (some kind of dextrose?), and it has a sweet aftertaste. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have the burnt kick that I like in a schwarzbier. In fact, the sugar flavor seems a bit artificial. But it is still a fairly decent beer. GermanBrews76 (667), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Oct 1, 2004 well, I’m going to be honest. this waws an enormous dissapointment, frankly, it sucked. A very dark lager:burnt, brown edges and loads of carbonation with a sticky cocoa brown top. Rich caramely nose accented with burnt grains, black patents, chocolate, and a big creamy toffee presence. Fills the mouth with a creamy, almost foamy front is sickly sweet, almost like a cola into a burnt mocha flavor. I could only finish about three mouthfulls before the disgusting sweetness overcame me. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 12, 2004 Dark Coloring and Big Head. Expected it to Be Bad By Ratings Placed on it, but Found it to Be A Very Decent Beer. Taste is a very Sugary Coffee...some Chocoalte...definitly creamy on the tongue..very good! | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 11, 2004 Dirty-brown, irregular head, on tar-black beer, leaving lace. (Sugared) coffee, chicory or Ersatz-Kaffee, and unbelievable tobacco ash - as an ashtray poured in. Weird!! But not bad... Taste - my God. This MUST be a smokers’ mouth in the morning, before the first faggie... I could tolerate the nose - but this? There’s a lot of sweetness too, and just a touch of sourness - a dash of sour milk in the Ersatz cup, or starfruit. Again - weird. MF: not it’s best feature. Too thin and too slick. Ashes keep in the mouth.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 8, 2004 Pours a black death color with an uber-head. Aroma of sweet coffee. Mouthfeel is a bit creamy. Taste is kind of like a creamy, sweet milk chocolate, but there is something a little off about it. It may be from syrup as others have claimed, but I found this beer to be nowhere near as bad as others have made it out to be. Not the world’s worst Schwarzbier. pivo (2537), Germany
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 21, 2004 Looks good - opaque black with a tall fluffy head, but the nose hints at a sub-average beer: some molasses, but a touch of rotten vegetable. Sweet sugary malt with a lingering brown sugar taste on the lips. Some roasted malt tastes but they are overwhelmed by the sweetness. There are much better Schwarzbiers out there... iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 18, 2004 500 mL bottle: jet black colour, but does have some transparency through the edges…nice creamy off-white head. Solid, single pour into my half-liter glass…strong roasted coffee and burnt toast aroma…charred comes to mind. Horrid sweetness – almost like drinking black, sugar water. Sour, unpleasant lingering bitterness and puckering sweetness. Why do they continue to make this??
