Huge tobacco aroma, dirt, hay and light roast. First taste is super sweet, tastes like someone dumped an entire jar of sugar in a small cup of coffee. Some chocolate, but sooo much sugar. Lightly smokey. Its not a bad cup of coffee... just a lot of sugar. Smooth creamy, lightly syrupy body. BustedFlat (554), Edina, Minnesota, USA

Aroma is sweet and sugary, roasted coffee and nutty.
Taste is of caramel malt, lightly roasted.
Beer is very sweet to drink. Highly enjoyable in small quantity.
A sure welcome chnage from the average pilsner. tomaz (8), , Germany does not count | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 7/20 | Jul 20, 2008 This beer is surprising. Compare to other german black bier, it is really nice color, deep black. The taste is great, the aromas present are coffee, vanilla, but it is way too sweet to the point i am wondering if articial aromas are added. Why are the brewers making it sooo sweet, somethin to hide? Like a bitter background? dont know, but I hate the way germans do, the same with wine, adding sugar to please the taste of people too used to sweet stuff. ekstedt (2457), Göteborg, Sweden
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Jun 10, 2008 Bottle (50 cl) from a local beer store in Berlin. Dark copper with a medium beige head. Roasted chocolate & coffee with some toffee and vanilla. Way too sweet, which is a pity, because this could potentially be a very interesting Schwarzbier. gnoff (3579), Göteborg, Sweden

Chocolate, coffee, acidic scent, also grainy. Very sweet sugary taste, rather dissapointing. Thin mouthfeel, low bitterness. 7/4/4/2/8=2.5
Rerate (50 cl bottle at 3 Smĺ Rum, Göteborg) On October 18, 2008 BB 030909 Black color, teal head. Malty sweet and cheeze scent. Very sweet sugary taste. Oxidized hops, cheeze aftertaste. Thin mouthfeel, low bitterness. 5/4/3/2/7=2.1
I’ll keep ny first rating, since the bottle was purchased in Germany and most likely fresher. chriso (4852), London, Greater London, England
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | May 26, 2008 Bottle at Kobehavnske Oldage, May 2006. Black. Smells of coffee. Tastes of sweet, unfermented wort. More like one of those chewy malt soft drinks than a beer. Historic and rare it might be. Palatable it isn’t - for me anyway. At least these guys don’t seem hidebound by German style conformity.
