clear dark brown, scant head, faint chocolate aroma, slick body, sweet butterscotch and roasted malt flavor, very light bitterness offers no balance, slick and buttery - is this the goal?

Pours clear dark brown with a fleeting tan head.
Mild sweet malt and alcohol make up the aroma.
A light palate that delivers a malt forward flavor profile.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 4, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. Dark brown, almost black but with light still shining through. Slightly funky, musty nose. Thin with relatively strong malt flavors, sticky and slightly sour. No grain, though! No hops, either. Seems to be a bit dumbed down, even for style, and comparable to, say, a Killian’s. The least of the six beers tried this day.
