A hint of malt in the nose is all I could pick out but detected nothing off center. A flavor with a lot of malt with a twangy sort of bitter that is unusual though pretty good. Carbonation was a bit active for me compared to the rest of their beers. Not special but not bad. I’m glad I tried it. tronraner (1933), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 1, 2007 Draught. Pours the amber side of black with very thin off-white head. The aroma is faintly hoppy with a little bit of molasses. The flavor is light bitterness, some weird herbal tones, distant roast, and some bread. Meh. sneagrams3 (1759), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Full bodied with hints of cola and cocoa. :ive;y flavor and very fresh. Toasty bready flavors. Solid brew...And tasted again at the St Louis Microfest in a JW Lees firkin. Filtered and dark amber hued. Tight ring of off-white head. Aromas of grainy malty breads, honey, vanilla and a lotta oak! I actually said, "Oh my God!" outloud. Sweet nose and big malts. Thick and sugary sweet. Lotta oaky woody notes. Anise and raisins. Great complexity and a great experience! gunsho (134), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

Yep, it’s dark. Not pitch black by any stretch, but close. Head was thin light & gray, but lasts. Smells of caramel, & strawberry. Taste is a bit of roast coffee, some maraschino cherry & smoked meat. I wouldn’t expect these flavors to work, but they do, well. I could happily drink a few pints in the right company. Lingering meaty roast flavor. Chocolate emerges late in this.

The body contained no carbonation and dark ruby red brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of very mild malts. Its mouth feel is bock like and smooth. Its flavor contained sweet malty malt hops and true beer flavor. shrubber85 (2934), Wallhalben, Germany
