Commercial Description:
Community Dark First and foremost, Community Dark is English-style Mild Ale. We’ve dubbed it “Imperial Mild” because it’s a shade stronger than classic Mild. Light (bodied) but dark (colored), Community Dark is the ideal session ale and the best place to begin overcoming one’s irrational fear of the dark. English malts; lightly hopped with East Kent Goldings; London yeast. OG 1050 …

clear dark brown, scant head, faint chocolate aroma, slick body, sweet butterscotch and roasted malt flavor, very light bitterness offers no balance, slick and buttery - is this the goal?

(Draught) Pours a dark brown color with a small white head. Not bad, but not a very flavorful brew either.

Draft at brewpub. Poured clear dark brown color with a moderate brown frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium body and soft carbonation. Medium toasted malt aroma. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations were met with a good drinkable brew.

This draft brew from Rich O’s poured a small sized head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind an unnoted lacing. The body contained no carbonation and dark ruby red brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of very mild malts. Its mouth feel is bock like and smooth. Its flavor contained sweet malty malt hops and true beer flavor.

Draft at Rich O’s in New Albany, IN. Small tan head, lacing was fair, transparent, and a reddish brown hue. Malty, caramel, chocolate notes, and some hops. Flavor was lightly acidic and malty. Smooth mouthfeel.

Tap. Light malt aroma. Opaque black-brown color with nice head. Light smokey chocolate malt flavor. Light body. A very nice mild ale - flavors and aroma subtle but smooth and well blended.

On tap at the brewpub. This is billed as an "Imperial Mild." Tasted dishwater flat. Has an odd taniginess. Maybe some vanilla? Possibly the pint I had was old or soured. This was just really bad beer. Since all the people in this place are super nice, a "regular" who struck up a conversation with me took a taste of this beer and said that something was wrong. I hope to get back here and give it another chance someday. A great beer bar!

On tap at Rich O’s Publick House during RBSG Road Trip 2007. Hazy dark brown body with a small off-white head. Sweet malty aroma, light chocolate and raisin. Sweet chocolate and grainy malt flavor.
