HonkeyBra (1270), Lemont, Illinois, USA Oct 22, 2009 Had this at 3 floyds a while back. Nice big hoppy aroma of citrus. Flavor of hops and some caramel. KInd of citrus, piney. Nice mouthfeel. Pretty good beer. HoppyAlesToYou (24), , Indiana, USA Aug 23, 2009 Served in a snifter from a tap at 3 Floyds, I could detect a slight caramel aroma along with stronger citrus and resin. For the style, the flavor was well balanced between malt and hops, but not outstanding. Similar to Arcadia’s Hop Rocket, as both use English yeast, but not quite as memorable. Well done, overall. DrnkMcDermott (1832), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Aug 21, 2009 Beer #15 at GTMW, from the Real Ale tent. Very clear, almost pilsener-like color. As a cask beer it has few bubbles and a very thin head. Nice hoppy smell, of course. Great IPA taste with a thin cask mouthfeel; lets the beer slide right on down, so I give the "Palate" the max I can rate. A fine example of a Real Ale style IPA. MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Aug 1, 2009 On tap at Three Floyds, served in a snifter. Lightly hazy orange pour with a thin, slightly lasting head of beige foam. Spotty lace. The aroma was full of tropical fruit and fresh pine. Just a bit of caramel. The flavor was moderately hoppy and had tropical fruit, peach, and pine. Not much malt coming through, but not overly dry. Medium-bodied mouthfeel that felt slightly watery. Light carbonation. Not hoppy enough for my tastes. Just okay. tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Jul 27, 2009 Draft at the brewpub. Pours murky yellow orange and served with no head. Mild grassy nose and pretty damn bitter. This comes of like just a jumbled mess to me. gibson584 (25), Kentucky, USA Jun 23, 2009 10 oz pour into tulip at Rich O’s. Very generous pour with practically no head. Dark orange color, scent of grapefruit, spicy floral hoppy aroma. Taste is of sweet grapefruit which is unusual for and imperial IPA usually the bitterness over powers, but it is a nice change of pace. Very easy to drink high gravity brew. LarvalChemist (29), Lexington, Kentucky, USA Mar 8, 2009 Arrived an opaque, light amber with a white head.
the nose was spicy and floral, definite hops. The hops, as the name would imply, dominate the flavor. The ending is rather long and dry with hops striking the middle of the tongue. Overall a rather light and spicy drink. 502Flavors (617), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Nov 27, 2008 Fresh biting hops. Dangerously drinkable because it feels and more like a premium IPA, not a IIPA, in that it isn’t super heavy, viscous and filling. Great balance – the malt doesn’t take over as it does in many IIPA’s. Not overly sweet. Great. Fresh.
