drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 22, 2009 at GTMW ’09. pours amber with white head. nose is oxidized, port, green apple, and dark fruit. flavor is dry, grape, and rather scotchy, with raisin finish. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA Sep 17, 2009 Sweet vinegary aromas. Bownish color with a white head. Sourish flavors including brown malt and apple cider. Mild palate with a malty duration. Sweetish finish. Ok overall. madvike (301), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 16, 2009 Sampled @ GTMW ’09 - Pours deep brown with no head. Lots of alcohol smells that I can’t place, but it’s not overpowering. The taste doesn’t really give you that much. There’s some sweeter malt and a little bit of the alchohol aroma, but not much else. It’s smooth and syrupy, and very forgettable. brown pour translucent, soapy head.
most aroma came from the barreling, hints of vanilla overly alcoholic. Avg pal. a light sour funk that made me think infection along w/ over barreling are the big characteristics.. Not very good. pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 13, 2009 gtmw09... pours a thin light caramel brown with a soapy white head...some light barrel in the nose with soft caramel malt.... flavors revealed some sweet barrel qualities but little to show the underlying baltic porter base. allfreej (358), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Apr 5, 2009 On draught at New Albanian Bank Street Brewhouse. Dark brown pour, lasting, light brown head with decent lace. Malty, roasty nose and flavor balanced by a soft mouthfeel with a hint of the alcohol lying underneath. Excellent. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Mar 21, 2005 This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of fine to medium sized light brown colored frothy mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a dark ruby red brown colored semi-transparent body with no visible carbonation and a fair lacing. The aroma was very mild with subtle malty notes. The mouth feel was initially smooth with a mild tingle in a finish that contained a malty bite to it/ The flavor was sweet with roasty dark malty notes. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Nov 27, 2004 Draft at Rich O’s in New Alban, IN. Small tan head, good lacing, opaque, and a dark brown hue. Malty, sweet, roasty aroma. Sweet, malty, smooth, and a little acidic. Smooth mouthfeel.
